Mike Hart is used to taking care of interiors, but lately the exterior of one building has had him busy.
Hart is overseeing construction of a new facility to house Badcock Furniture and More, a business he has owned in Brewton for several years.
Badcock has been located in the Winn-Dixe shopping center in Brewton.
Groundbreaking at the new store location on U.S. 31 South took place in September 2008, Hart said.
Sam Skipper with Samuel Skipper Construction said his company is taking care of getting the building in shape for the opening.
Hart said the building is being prepared according to designs and layout recommended by Badcock officials.
The new facility will have areas designed especially to highlight particular items, Hart said. “In this new store we are going to have some designated areas designed to make shopping easy for our customers,” he said.
The new facility will see an increase in floor space from the current store, Hart said.
Hart said the store is expected to be completed and open for business by late March.
Hart said only new merchandise would pass through the doors of the new business.
The store currently employs four workers, but Hart said more employees would be nice.
The current store, located in the Winn-Dixie Shopping Center on Douglas Avenue, will begin offering merchandise at discounted prices beginning Feb. 10. The new facility is located at 1150 South Blvd.
