If you logged on to our Web site yesterday or this morning, we hope you were pleasantly surprised by the new design.
But the look of the Web site — located at www.brewtonstandard.com — is not the only change.
We have added several new features to make the site more interactive, attractive and functional.
A slide show of the top news gives you a quick glance at the latest and most important headlines, and other stories are arranged by topic on the Web site’s front page.
You’ll notice we have a spot for local video. We’ll be posting video of local events in the future.
We also have photo galleries generated by the newspaper and the opportunity for our readers to upload their photos as well. We encourage you to use this feature to share photos of local and family events.
An interactive calendar allows readers to post information about upcoming events, and readers can also post comments about stories to the stories themselves. And if you want to share something you’ve read, you can e-mail a story to friends and family.
The advertisements on the site are updated and animated, giving local stores and companies a chance to show off different aspects of their business. Those ads are also interactive, so you can visit the business’ Web site or find out more about the business with a click of the mouse.
With so many new features, you could probably spend a lot of time learning more about Brewton, whether you are at home, at work, or halfway around the world.
We may need your patience as we work out the last few bugs with the new site, but we believe it will be a great home for local news, local photos and local commentary — sort of an online coffee klatch.
