Charlotte Savannah Travis, 92, died Feb. 8, 2009. She was a native and lifelong resident of Conecuh County. She was a deaconess and member of the senior missionary group and a member of pastor’s aide ministries. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Travis, Sr., her children Ervin Travis, Jr., Dorothy Taylor and Willie Earl Travis.
She is survived by six daughters, Rosetta (Clarence) McCreary, Lula D. Travis, Mary Travis, Annie (Alvin) Jacobs, all of Evergreen, Annie (Alfonza) Jackson of Pensacola, Fla., and Mattie Travis of Albion, Mich.; two sons, Jimmy (Mary) Travis of Albion and Billy Earl (Tracey) Jackson of Columbia, S.C.; two adopted daughters, Roberta Floyd of Brewton and Mary Dailey of Evergreen; one adopted son, Roosevelt Harris of Evergreen; 53 granchildren; one adopted grandson; 100 great-grandchildren; 31 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Minnie Ruth Bradley of Evergreen and Maggie Dees of Pensacola; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, including five special friends, Rosie Williams of Brewton, Willie B. Travis, Helen Sims, Verdel Rankin and Bessie Richardson, all of Evergreen.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 14 at 2:30 p.m. at the Greater Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church in Evergreen with the Rev. Dr. John O. Meeks officiating. Burial followed in the Greater Nazarene Church Cemetery in Evergreen with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
