Mrs. Grace Godwin Brantley, 93, of Sand Flat Road in Flomaton, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009 at a local hospital after an extended illness. She was a native and life-long resident of Escambia County and was a retired seamstress with Judy Bond Fashions with 30 years of service. She was a member of the Catawba Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Brantley and two daughters, Doris Elaine Brantley and Jill Nelson.
She is survived by two daughters, Frances Brantley Wood of Dothan, Bobby Brantley (Howard) Perry of Mobile; five sisters, Nellie Godwin Barnes of Pensacola, Bessie Godwin Williamson and Jessie Godwin Haddock, both of Flomaton, Lois Godwin (Thomas) White of Cantonment, Fla., and Alma Jean Godwin (Marvin) Eckhoff of Lucedale, Miss., eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating. Burial followed in Catawba Springs Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
