Mr. Jim Dorn Grimes, 73, of Lynbrook Drive in Brewton, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009 at a local hospital after an extended illness. He was a native of Covington County and a former resident of Greenville, Union Springs and Ozark before moving to Brewton in 1966. He was retired from the grocery industry having served as manager with A&P Grocery, assistant manager at Food Fair in Brewton, manager of Food Fair in Atmore, manager at Magnolia Superfoods in East Brewton, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church of Brewton.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lydia Hughes Grimes of Brewton; one son, Michael Grimes of Brewton; two brothers, Billy Warren Grimes of Mobile and Jeff (Glenda) Grimes of Andalusia; four grandchildren, Hillary (Brandon) Rose, Natalie (Jeremy) McCall, Brewer Grimes and Christian Grimes; and one great-granddaughter, Bailey McCall.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Brewton with the Rev. Jack Fitts and the Rev. John Finklea officiating. Burial followed in Union Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
