For the first time since 2002, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers are state champions in basketball.
The Lady Tigers overcame a nine-point halftime deficit and hung on to defeat Madison Academy Saturday morning in Birmingham 53-50.
The win improved and finished the season for the Lady Tigers at 26-2 as they finished the season on a 19-game win streak.
The Lady Tigers went undefeated this season against teams from the state of Alabama. After losing the first game of the season to Pensacola High School of Florida, the Lady Tigers reeled off wins until the first game of the Playground Area Shootout in Ft. Walton. In the first game of the tournament, the Lady Tigers lost to Bearden of Tennessee.
