Mrs. Lossie Viola Smith Gray-Palmer, 101, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, in an Evergreen nursing facility. She was a longtime resident of Castleberry and an active member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. She had been a member of Holly Grove United Methodist Church for some years. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ollie C. Gray and Arthur D. Palmer; a son, Bobby Gray; a daughter, Lois Gray Benefield and a grandson, Johnny Weaver.
She is survived by two sons, Jimmy C. (Joyce) Gray and Ray (Libby) Palmer; three daughters, Betty Gray (John Thomas) Weaver, Etta Palmer (Titus) Kirksey, and Carlie Palmer (Alvin) Carter; four grandchildren, Karen Benefield Fedon, Vicki Weaver Clark, Clark Gray and Stephanie Palmer Conway; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. at Holly Grove United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Cope Funeral Home directing.
