T.R. Miller baseball falls to Flomaton in ECT

One bad inning for the T.R. Miller Tiger baseball team was the difference in them claiming their first win of the season in the second game of the Escambia County tournament Thursday night in Flomaton.
With the score tied 0-0 in the top of the third inning, the Tigers committed three errors and allowed Flomaton to take a 6-0 lead and claim a 9-7 win over T.R. Miller in the Tigers’ first game of the season.
Trailing 6-0, the Tigers fought back in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the Flomaton lead to 6-3.
With the lead cut to three points, another Tiger error on a Hurricane bunt to turn into an inside-the-park homerun and allowed three runs to score to give Flomaton a 9-3 lead after the top of the sixth inning.
In the bottom of the inning, the Tigers plated four runs to cut the lead to 9-7 but that was as close as they could get as they fell by two runs.
Knowles took the loss on the mound for the Tigers. He went five innings and allowed six runs on seven hits, walked five and struck out six.
Stephen Warren relieved Knowles in the top of the sixth and went two innings and allowed three runs on two hits, walked two and struck out two.
Conner Denton led the Tigers at the plate. Denton was 3-for-4 with one RBI.
John Mathieu was 2-for-4 with one RBI. Caleb McAnally was 1-for-1 with one RBI and Garrett Robinson was 1-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
Sam Sharpe was 1-for-4 and Knowles was 1-for-4 in the loss.
The Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Hillcrest for a 4 p.m. game.
