W.S. Neal Middle falls to Central

Central Middle School used a six-run fourth inning Tuesday to defeat the W.S. Neal Middle School Lady Eagle softball team 16-10.
With the loss, W.S. Neal dropped to 0-2. The Lady Eagles suffered a loss to Jay in their first game of the season.
Kaitlin Hadaway took the loss on the mound for the Lady Eagles. Hadaway went the complete game five innings and allowed 16 runs (12 earned) on 10 hits, walked six and struck out 12.
Shaya Richards led W.S. Neal at the plate. Richards was 1-for-2 with five RBIs.
Diasha Flowers, Hadaway, Gracee Dixon, Iris Gomez, Keana Ellison and Morgan Mitchem all had RBIs in the loss for the Lady Eagles.
Central claimed an early 4-0 lead after the first inning, but in the bottom of the first inning the Lady Eagles benefited from a bases loaded walk that scored Flowers to cut the lead to 4-1.
W.S. Neal tied the game up at 4-4 in the bottom of the second inning after getting three runs.
Richards singled to score Hannah Cooper and Mariah Davis. Dixon then singled home Richards to tie the game at 4-4.
Central took an 8-4 lead in the top of the third inning, but the Lady Eagles responded with two in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 8-6.
Richards led the way again with two RBIs that scored Casey Nolin and Davis.
In the top of the fourth inning, Central added six runs to hold a 14-6 lead after three and a half innings.
The Lady Eagles added three runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 14-9 as they batted around in the inning.
Central would added two runs in the fifth inning and the Eagles one as Central took the six-point win.
The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, March 4 when they travel to Atmore for a 4 p.m. game.
The Lady Eagles will be back in action at home on Tuesday, March 17 against Flomaton in a double header.
