Mr. Charlie Johnson, 53, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at his residence in Evergreen. He was a native and long time resident of Conecuh County. He attended Conecuh County schools, Alabama State University in Montgomery, and Ed Reid Technical College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Winston and Inda L. Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Jane R. Johnson; three children; Pefyndra (Greg), Brittney and Joshua, all of Evergreen; two brothers, Winston (Wilma) Johnson of Los Angeles, and Melvin (Lillie) Johnson of Evergreen; two sisters, Sarah Jackson of Wyandanch, N.Y., and Alene Gandy of Evergreen; four aunts, Lillie B. Jackson and Ida Bradley, both of Evergreen, Luberta Bradley of Youngstown, Ohio, and Melissa Johnson of Mariana, Fla.; three grandchildren; Hali, Ronnie and Levy Kelly, all of Evergreen; a special nephew, Wayne (Melinda) Malden of Jonesboro, Ga., and a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 1, at 2:30 p.m. at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie J. Morris officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
