Mr. James Kelly Kiser, 73, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009. He was a native and longtime resident of Brewton. He attended school in Brewton and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired from Alabama Ductile Casting Company and a member of First Marietta Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Marrin Kelly; his first wife, Essie Drakeford Kiser; and a son, John.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary H. Nearor Kiser; three daughters, Pamela (William) Richardson and Tracie (Terry) Samuel, both of Brewton, and Kimmie Kiser of Birmingham; three sons, Staff Sgt. Marvin T. (Aliesha) Kiser and Bobby J. Kiser, both of Jacksonville, N.C., and James K. Kiser Jro of Cleo, Ala.; his mother, Louizer Herrera of Newark, N.J.; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Raymond L. (Mildred) Nearor, Melvin Nearor Jr., Louise L. Gray, and Robert Kendall; sisters-in-law, Ora N. (Forrest) Lett and Sarah A. Xavier; and a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 28, at 2:30 p.m. at First Marietta Missionary Baptist Church in the Mason community, with the Rev. Eddie C. Stallworth officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
