William “Mack” Beech Sr.|Huxford

Mr. William “Mack” Beech Sr., 79, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at his residence in Huxford. He followed his father into the timber business in the 1940s. He founded Huxford Pole and Timber Co., Inc. in 1959, which remains in operation today. He was a native of Hobson and a 32 Degree Mason, Grand Lodge of Alabama Local Lodge 779, and a member of the Scottish Rite.
He is survived by his wife, Olvie Beech and his step-mother, Irma Hartley Beech, both of Huxford; two sons, William Mack “Mike” Beech Jr. of Atmore, and Bobby T. Beech of Huxford; two daughters, Maudie Beech Ridgeway and March Beech Watts, both of Huxford; a brother, Ray Marshall Beech of Chatom; a sister, Maudie Quita Kimbrough of Montgomery; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jimmy Dukes and Brother Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore with Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home directing.
