The W.S. Neal Eagle baseball team defeated Central and lost to Flomaton in games during the week.
The Eagles 10-run ruled Central Tuesday at home by a score of 12-2 to improve to 6-0.
Thursday night at home, the Eagles dropped their first game of the season and fell to 6-1 as they lost to Flomaton 3-2.
The Eagles were set to take on Escambia County Friday night in Atmore and will be off until Friday, March 13 when they travel to Fairhope to take on the Fairhope Pirates in a doubleheader.
Game time is set for 4 p.m.
W.S. Neal 12, Central 2
The Eagles of East Brewton benefited from nine Central errors, six in the first inning, two improve to 6-0 with a 12-2 win over the Jaguars.
W.S. Neal trailed 1-0 after the first inning, but scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning to claim a 4-1 lead.
After having their lead cut to 4-2 in the top of the second inning, the Eagles scored one run in the second inning, three in the third inning, one in the fourth inning and three in the sixth inning to claim the 10-run win.
Christian Purvis led the Eagles at the plate. Purvis was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Keith Bradley was 2-for-3 with two singles and one RBI and Dodson Herrington was 1-for-3.
Jake Cannon, Tyler Sawyer, and Monterrius Culliver all had RBIs in the win.
Hayden Cooper picked up the win on the mound for W.S. Neal.
Cooper went the first two innings and allowed two runs on three hits and struck out one.
Joseph Strength relieved Cooper and went two innings and allowed no runs and had two strikeouts.
Dylan Godwin relieved Strength and closed the game for the Eagles. Godwin allowed no runs and struck out three in the win.
Flomaton 3, W.S. Neal 2
After defeating the Hurricanes 2-1 in the finale of the Escambia County tournament last Friday night in Flomaton, the two teams met again Thursday night in East Brewton.
This time, the Hurricanes evened their record with the Eagles this season and handed the Eagles their first loss of the season with a 3-2 loss.
Flomaton used one run in the top of the first inning and two in the top of the third inning to claim a 3-0 lead over the Eagles and held off a late Eagle rally to claim the one-run win.
W.S. Neal scored one run in the sixth inning and one in the seventh inning to cut the lead to one.
The Eagles had one run in the inning wiped off the scoreboard as a W.S. Neal Eagle missed home plate and the Hurricanes appealed and the runner was called out.
William Shell took the loss on the mound for the Eagles. Shell dropped his record to 2-1 with the loss.
Shell went seven innings and had 10 strikeouts in the loss. He allowed seven hits, three walks and hit one batter.
Reid Johnson led the Eagles at the plate with a 1-for-3 day and an RBI. Johnson had a home run in the bottom of the sixth for the Eagles first hit of the game.
Herrington was 1-for-3 and Shell was 1-for-4 with one RBI. Logan Williamson was 1-for-2 to round out the Eagles four hits in the game.
In JV action, the JV Eagles defeated Flomaton 3-2 to improve their record. Full stats from the JV game were not known as of press time.
