For more than 20 years, Pearl Stallworth has kept a tribute to her son and three other local teens going. Last week, most of those efforts went up in smoke.
The pavilion was a portion of the Wayne M. Stallworth Memorial Park that began in 1987 following the teen’s death. Stallworth died in an automobile accident that also clamed the lives of Sean Miller, John Miller and Thomas Miller.
The pavilion has been used as a gathering place for residents in the community as well as groups and organizations, Stallworth said.
Funds for the park have been made possible in the past through contributions from organizations and individuals.
Stallworth isn’t letting the destruction of the pavilion dampen her dreams of keeping the park alive, as a tribute to her lost loved ones.
Anyone interested in making contributions to help restore the park, may contact Stallworth.
Contributions may be made to the Wayne M. Stallworth Memorial Park Trust account at Bank of Brewton or they can be mailed to Pearl Stallworth at 229 Stallworth Memorial Park Drive, Brewton, AL 36426. Stallowrth can be reached at 867-8010.
