TRM Sharpens UMS|Sharpe pitches and hits TRM to win, now 2-3

Not only did T.R. Miller’s Sam Sharpe help pitch his team to an 8-7 win over the UMS-Wright Bulldogs Friday night in Brewton, he drove in the winning run also.
Down 7-6 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, Sharpe connected for a two-RBI double to give the Tigers an 8-7 lead.
With the one-run lead, Sharpe pitched the final inning of the game to give T.R. Miller the one-run win and improve to 2-3 with their second straight win,
Sharpe was 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs, a double and a single. On the mound, Sharpe gave up three earned runs on six hits, walked one and struck out five in the win.
After the first four innings, Sharpe did not allow any runs or hits as the Tigers used a big third inning to score five runs and claim the win.
The Tigers had eight hits in the game, four of them coming in the sixth inning.
Corey Rilling was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Trent Robinson was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Stephen Warren was 1-for-3 and Conner Denton, Garrett Robinson and Wes Dickey were all 1-for-4.
Trent Robinson and Wes Dickey both had doubles in the win.
T.R. Miller trailed 3-0 after the first inning after committing two errors in the inning.
The Tigers cut the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the inning when Garrett Robinson scored on a passed ball.
In the top of the third inning, UMS-Wright made it a 5-1 lead, but the Tigers scored five runs in the bottom of the inning to claim a 6-5 lead.
UMS took a 7-6 lead in the top of the fourth inning as they scored two runs off of two Tiger errors.
The Bulldogs held the 7-6 until the bottom of the sixth inning, when Sharpe’s two RBI double gave the Tigers the 8-7 lead and the win.
UMS 12, TRM JV 1
The T.R. Miller Tiger JV team faced a tough season opener Friday at home and dropped a 12-1 loss to UMS-Wright.
UMS-Wright jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning and scored two more runs in the second inning and four in the third inning to grab an 8-0 lead.
UMS-Wright failed to score in the fourth inning, but added four runs in the fifth inning to win 12-1.
The lone T.R. Miller Tiger run came in the bottom of the fourth inning when Caleb McAnally scored the lone Tiger run and the lone Tiger hit when he roped a homerun down the third base line.
Tyler Dehoff took the loss on the mound. Dehoff allowed eight runs (three earned) on four hits, walked four and struck out one in two and two-thirds inning of work.
Ryland Dixon relieved Dehoff in the top of the third with two outs and allowed four runs on three hits and walked three and hit one batter.
The Tigers committed three errors in the loss.
After cutting the lead to 8-1 in the fourth inning, the Tigers loaded the bases with two outs after two Bulldog errors and hit-by-pitch but failed to score any runs as they lost by 11.
