At a time when consumers are using things up instead of throwing them away, it’s great to see the City of Brewton reusing what has become a landmark for the city.
On Friday, members of the Brewton Tree and Beautification Board and Dogwood Hills recreation facility worked together to put a used gazebo to use in a different setting.
Through the generous contribution of an unknown donor, Brewton residents will be presented with a renovated park that will be a place our city can be proud to show off to visitors. That donation is also making it possible for the patrons of Dogwood Hills to enjoy a new addition to the facilities there.
The old 20-foot gazebo was removed from the downtown park to make way for a 30-plus-foot gazebo to be erected there. The older gazebo will now be situated in a spot that will be the site for hours of laughter and play as part of planned improvements at Dogwood Hills.
We applaud the efforts of the Tree and Beautification Board and the foresight of leaders in Brewton to make the gazebo a reusable construction for Dogwood Hills.
Thanks to an unknown hero what could have been an abandoned pile of lumber will now become a reusable product.
Leaders and individuals alike should take a cue from those in the know and make it a point to reuse and recycle everything possible. Those reused products could provide much happiness for many people.
