Editor’s Note: The following letter was submitted as an open letter to Mr. Marc Keahey.
Dear Mr. Keahey,
There were never many things that Senator Pat Lindsey and I agreed upon, but I will admit that he or his supporters were absolutely the best at illegally placing campaign signs on public rights of way and on telephone poles.
I notice that you or your supporters are copying that illegal act. I say illegal because the Attorney General rules several yeas ago that this is littering.
I do not really think you personally have done this, nor do I think you condone this. So I am asking you to ask your supporters to take down these illegally placed signs. Surely you have some supporters in these counties that would allow you to place your signs on their private property.
I wonder if it is the same two gentleman that placed Mr. Lindsey’s signs in the past. I have seen these signs in Baldwin, Clarke, Conecuh, Escambia, Monroe, N. Mobile and Washington counties. I do not travel in Choctaw County. Starting Monday, March 16, I will be personally removing these signs myself when I come across them.
I want to encourage all three of the Republican candidates not to follow the example of these supporters of the Democrat. I have not seen many advertisements from the Republicans, but what I have seen were some legally paid-for billboards.
Thank you, Mr. Keahey.
