The Brewton Police Department and Escambia County Sheriff’s Office have announced the plans for this year’s Youth Police Academy.
This will be the ninth year that the program has been in place, teaching the youth about the responsibilities of law enforcement officers.
The event will take place July 13-17 on the campus of Jefferson Davis Community College and is open to girls and boys ages 12-17.
The Youth Police Academy is designed for young men and women that have a genuine interest in law enforcement as a career. It will challenge students physically and allow them to learn about the law enforcement function in our society.
Students will stay at the Lakeview Apartments on the campus of Jefferson Davis Community College for five days and four nights. They will participate in physical conditioning, classroom instruction and hands-on training in various law enforcement related topics.
If anyone is interested in participating in this year’s Youth Police Academy, registration deadline is May 28.
