Mr. John Lee Thompson, 52, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at his residence after a brief illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County. He was of the Methodist faith and employed in the electrical, heating and air condition industry. He was preceded in death by his father, Shang Thompson; a daughter, Summer Marie Thompson; a brother, Earl Thompson; and a sister, Laura Blackwell.
He is survived by his mother, Frances Thompson (John Boutwell) of East Brewton; his wife, Doris Thompson of East Brewton; a son, Brian Thompson of Opelika; two step-sons, Johnny (Denise) Godwin and Frankie (Misti) Godwin, both of Brewton; a daughter, Charity Dantzler of Columbus, Ga.; a brother, Bobbie Thompson of East Brewton; two sisters, Ellisa (Wayne) Ard of Brewton, and Susie (Jesse) Ellis of Castleberry; and five step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 28, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Russ McDonald officiating. Burial followed at Ft. Crawford Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
