Playing a stage role famous across south Alabama, Phil Johnson wanted to keep his character fresh during a hiatus — and he persuaded his friends at Pensacola Little Theatre to perform for a Brewton audience.
Johnson, who portrays Atticus Finch in the theatre group’s production of “To Kill A Mockingbird,” wanted to take the opportunity to keep the actors in the production on their toes.
Johnson said officials with the group agreed to schedule a performance in Brewton at his urging.
Johnson, who serves as the artistic director for the Pensacola Little Theatre said the program is being made possible, in part, through funding from the National Endowment for the Arts as part of the Big Read program.
The curtain will rise at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Woodfin-Patterson Auditorium at JDCC. Tickets are $15 at the door.
