Southern delight|JDCC takes 2-of-3 from rival Alabama Southern

The Jefferson Davis Community College baseball team took two games out of three against the Alabama Southern Eagles to improve to 12-12 overall and to 5-4 in conference play.
The Warhawks took game one against Alabama Southern 5-3 on Friday before splitting two games on Saturday.
In the first game on Saturday, Alabama Southern grabbed an 8-5 win and JDCC grabbed a 3-2 win in the rubber match to take the series 2-1.
Game one: JDCC 5, ASCC 3
With the game tied 3-3 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, the JDCC Warhawks scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to win 5-3 in game one.
Alabama Southern held a 1-0 lead after the top of the first, but JDCC scored one in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 1-1. The Warhawks took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning before the Eagles took a 3-2 lead with two runs in the top of the firth inning. JDCC tied the game with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning before scoring two in the eighth to get the two-run win.
Derek Young took the win on the mound for the Warhawks in relief of starter Michael Clay and reliever Kyle Wyatt.
Young went three innings and allowed two hits, one walk and struck out one.
Reid Wynn was 1-for-2 with a homerun and one RBI for the Warhawks. C.J. Lindsey was 1-for-4 and C.J. Moorer was 1-for-2.
Hunter Norris had an RBI in the win for JDCC and Blake Long was 2-for-4 with a triple and one RBI. Ryne Phillips was 1-for-3 in the win.
Clay went five innings and allowed one earned run on four hits, walked three and struck out six.
Wyatt went one inning and allowed no runs and no hits.
Game two: ASCC 8, JDCC 5
JDCC fell to 11-12 overall and 4-4 in conference play with an 8-5 loss in game two of the series and the first game on Saturday.
Alabama Southern scored one run in the first inning and four in the second to hold a 5-0 lead early and then added a run in the sixth and two in the seventh to hold off JDCC who scored four runs in the last inning.
Ben Negus was 3-for-4 and Lindsey was 1-for-4 for JDCC at the plate. Cody Sanderson was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a double and Turner was 3-for-5 with one RBI and a double.
Wynn was 1-for-5 with one RBI and Phillips was 2-for-5 with one RBI and a double.
Harry Haring was 1-for-3 in the loss.
Michael King took the loss on the mound for JDCC allowing five runs on eight hits, walking one and striking out one.
Game three: JDCC 3, ASCC 2
Despite just having two hits in the third and final game, JDCC scored one run in the fifth inning and two in the sixth inning overcome a 2-0 deficit and win 3-2.
Lindsey was 1-for-2 with one RBI and Moorer was 1-for-3 with one RBI and Norris added an RBI for JDCC as they won the series over ASCC and improved to 12-12 and 5-4 in the conference.
Derek Lowry picked up the win on the mound for JDCC. Lowry went two innings and allowed one hit and had a strikeout.
Jeff State 4, JDCC 3
After getting two wins out of three games from conference rival Alabama Southern, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawks fell to 12-13 on Tuesday with a 4-3 loss to Jefferson State.
JDCC held a 2-0 lead until the bottom of the sixth inning when Jeff State scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to get a 3-2 lead.
JDCC tied the game up at 3-3 in the top of the eighth inning but fell to one run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lose 4-3.
Kyle Wyatt took the loss on the mound for the Warhawks. Wyatt went 1 2/3 innings and allowed one run on two hits, walked two and struck out one.
Hunter Norris and Harry Haring were both 2-for-3 at the plate for the Warhawks. Ben Negus was 1-for-1 and Cody Turner was 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Blake Long was 1-for-4 with one RBI and Ryne Phillips was 1-for-1 with one RBI.
Derek Lowry, Norris, Josh Benton and Michael King all pitched in the loss for the Warhawks.
They combined for 6 1/3 innings and allowed six hits, three runs (two earned) walked two and struck out three.
