A new front is forecast to reach the Brewton area Thursday evening, with a threat of severe weather ahead of the front.
Scattered thunderstoms could develop ahead of the front in the late mroning and through the afternoon. Some of the storms could produce damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes.
Rainfall accumulation between 1 a.m. Thursday and 1 a.m. Friday is forecast at 1 1/2 to 2 inches.
The Conecuh River is forecast to crest Thursday afternoon at 27.3 feet, with flood stage at 27 feet.
Murder Creek is expected to crest Thursday evening at 17.5 feet, but flood stage is 22 feet.
Escambia County Emergency Management Director David Adams warned that most flood deaths occur in automobiles. "Never drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway," he said. "Flood waters are usually deeper than they appear."
