Mrs. Lillian G. Oliver Baber Thompson, 84, of Dailey Street, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, in a Century, Fla., nursing facility after an extended illness. She was a native of London, Ala., and a long time resident of East Brewton. She was a retired insurance sales agent and former bookkeeper with Jernigan Home Furnishings with 23 years of service. She was a member of Alco Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Timmy Baber and her husband, Jack Thompson.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Baber Smith of Brewton; two daughters-in-law, Debbie Patterson Tucker of Brewton, and Kathy Haugh O’Conner of Pace, Fla.; a brother, Austin Oliver of Reynoldsberg, Ohio; a sister, Faye Pugh of Robertsdale; four grandchildren, Tonya (Billy) Davis, Renee (Lance) McInnish, Sam (Brandi) de Gafferelly and Wendy (Scott) Cooper; five great-grandchildren, Kortni Tagudar, Heather Davis, Brianna Riley, Gracie de Gafferelly and Emily Ann Cooper.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 4, at 2 p.m. at Alco Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Caylor and Speaker Austin Oliver officiating. Burial followed at Odom Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
