More than 50 customers stood in line Friday morning waiting for the grand opening of the Habitat Restore.
Restore, which is filled with home goods from flooring and doors, to lamps and coffee tables, has opened as a chance to earn funding for the Escambia County Habitat for Humanity’s home building projects in the county.
Jack O’Neil, a volunteer and board member with Habitat and who is serving as interim manager of the store, told the gathered customers the store is an on-going effort.
Habitat Executive Director Alecia Glaize expressed her appreciation for the support already shown to the new business.
Following a prayer by board member Gary Baldwin, O’Neil opened the door and lead customers into the store.
The store quickly filled with those waiting in line followed by those arriving just after the doors opened.
O’Neil said donations of any household items will always be needed. The store opened with a variety of merchandise available including everything from doors and flooring to lamps and salt shakers.
The Habitat Restore also has a truck available to pick up donated items to deliver to the store.
