Learning to be a leader has many advantages including lending a helping hand to those in need.
The Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored Youth Leadership group recently took on a project that accomplished a goal of coming to the aid of a local organization.
Sav-A-Life of Escambia County is directed by Jessica Fountain and is an agency that provides counseling to expectant mothers.
As part of the group project, members of the class placed collection containers at Walmart asking for donations of items suitable for babies.
Items collected included diapers, baby wipes, baby bottles and toys.
After collecting the items, members of the group met with Fountain at the Sav-A-Life offices to make a presentation to the agency.
Along with the items donated and collected, the class also made a presentation of $334 in cash to the agency.
Members of the 2009 Youth Leadership class include Ashton Cary, Mallory Carpenter, Shane Thomas, Brianna Hawthorne, John Bailey, Carlena McClain, Keyashley Williams, Will Hall, Katie Edge, Robert Baldwin, Allen Rigby, Dwight Burnham and Whitney Elliott.
