A’s and Cubs gets wins in Brewton Little League

The Brewton Little League Athletics came away with a 7-5 win over the Twins last week.
Keaton Parker was 1-for-3 with a single for the Twins and Jonathon Lucas was 2-for-2. Both hits were inside-the-park homeruns.
Trippe Floyd was 2-for-3 with a homeruns and a single. The homerun was the first homerun of the year for Brewton Little League.
Will Smith was 1-for-3 with a single.
Tyler Reid was 1-for-2 with one run scored and Todd Mayo was 2-for-3 with one run scored and an RBI.
Brown was 2-for-3 with three singles and Tyler Hoomes had two walks and one run scored.
Trin Miller was 1-for-3 with a single and an RBI and Ethan Bollenbacher was 1-for-3 with a single.
Mayo took the win and Tyler Reid was his relief
Cubs 9, Red Sox 7
Starting Opening Day play Saturday, the Cubs blasted out to an 8-0 lead before a furious Red Sox comeback bid fell just short.
The Cubs scored four runs in the first and four more in the third to take that lead. The visitors got four straight hits to lead off the first, including singles by Drew Williamson, Nash Diercks and Jordan Williams, before Preston Townsend blasted a three-run double.
Both Townsend and Daniel Blair added RBI hits in the third as well. After the initial barrage, the Red Sox drew to within 9-7 with a run in the third and five more in the fourth before the comeback was stalled.
The Cubs were led by Williamson, Williams and Townsend, each of whom had two hits apiece, while Townsend added a stellar effort defensively at second base.
The Red Sox countered with a double and single from Lane Clark, who also scored two runs, and RBI singles by Troy Lewis, Caleb Winton, Joshua Winton and Russell Smith. Hunter Brittain pitched to 21 batters in three innings for four strikeouts for the Cubs.
Drew Williamson was 1-for-3 and Jordan Williams was 2-for-3 on two singles.
Preston Townsend was 2-for-2 with one single and one double.
Daniel Blair was 1-for-2 with the win for the Cubs.
Townsend had an unassisted double play while playing second base.
Williams went three innings and allowed two hits and three walks and struck out three.
Blair went 2/3 of inning and allowed one hit, walked four and struck out one. Williamson went 1/3 of an inning.
Cubs 1, Reds 0
Hunter Brittain was 1-for-2 with a double and Garrett Salter was 1-for-2 for the Reds.
Davis Wade was 1-for-1.
Brittain pitched 2 1/3 inning and took the loss for the Cubs. Brittain walked two, struck out four and allowed no hits.
Jennings went 2/3 of an inning allowed one hit and struck out one.
Williamson was 1-for-2 and Williams was 1-for-2.
Williamson pitched four innings and allowed two hits, walked one and struck out nine.
In the win for the Reds over Flomaton, Salter went four innings and picked up the win.
Salter walked two, struck out 11 and allowed four hits and walked one.
Parker was 2-for-4 with two singles and O’Neil White was 2-for-4.
Brittian was 4-for-4 with a single, a double and two RBIs.Salter was 2-for-4 and Wade was 1-for-3.
Etheridge was 1-for-2 with a double.
