The Greater Brewton Area Lions Club will be cooking up pancakes Saturday as part of the groups fundraising efforts for the year.
The annual event is set to begin at 7 a.m. in the fellowship hall at Brewton First United Methodist Church. Plates will be filled with pancakes and other breakfast fare until 10 a.m.
The annual pancake breakfast event has become one of the organization’s most popular ways to raise money. All funds raised through efforts of the club are used for projects in the community.
Patty Mitchell, chairperson for the breakfast event said the group is expecting a large crowd.
The event has grown each year the group has flipped pancakes and they are expecting a larger crowd this year, Mitchell said.
George Coale, a long-time pancake man, is sure to be on hand to cook the pancakes, Mitchell said. Other members of the club will on hand to serve pancakes, Conecuh Sausage, Maxwell House coffee, orange juice and Dairy Fresh Milk.
Cost for the breakfast with all the trimmings is $4 a plate for adults and no charge for children 12.
Mitchell said there is plenty of room for those who wish to stay and dine at the church. For those in a rush, carry-out plates will be available.
The  Greater Brewton Area Lions Club supports sight research and related projects, provides an annual scholarship  to Jefferson Davis Community College for a student from both T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal High School.
Mitchell said the club has recently purchased new eye site screening equipmet for local schools and continues their efforts in sending children with diabetes to Seale-Harris Camp.
