Win streaking|JDCC baseball now 20-19 overall with recent wins

With their fifth straight win Tuesday against Bevill State Sumiton, the JDCC baseball team improved to 20-19 with a 13-3 win.
JDCC trailed 1-0 after the first inning, but rallied to score seven unanswered runs through the sixth inning to grab a 6-1 lead.
Bevill cut the lead to 6-3 with two runs in the seventh inning, but JDCC scored six runs in their half of the inning to take a 13-3 lead and claim the win.
Derek Lowry picked up the win on the mound for JDCC.
Lowry went two innings allowing one hit and striking out one.
Cody Sanderson led JDCC at the plate. Sanderson was 4-for-5 with three RBIs and two doubles.
Cody Turner was 1-for-3 with one RBI and a home runs and Ryne Phillips was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and double. Harry Haring was 1-for-2 with one RBI and ad triple and Ben Negus was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a triple.
C.J. Lindsey was 2-for-3 with a double. Terry McClain was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and Hunter Norris was 2-for-3 with one RBI. Reid Wynn was 1-for-2 and Taylor Register had an RBI in the win.
Michael Clay, Michael King and Andrew Favant also pitched win the win for the Warhawks.
In other games during the week, JDCC picked up their fourth straight win and evened their record to 19-19 overall and improved to 11-10 in conference play with a sweep of Bishop State over the weekend at home.
JDCC head coach Darrell Blevins was proud of the wins for his team and said that this past weekend’s performance keeps them in contention for a playoff spot at the state tournament May 9 through 14.
Blevins said the team is receiving production from a few key individuals such as Josh Benton who entered last Friday’s game and ‘thwarted’ a rally of Bishop State by enticing several ground balls and a couple of double play grounders when it was needed.
Game one: JDCC 12, Bishop State 5
Cody Sanderson was 4-for-5 for the Warhawks with a double and a triple and Taylor Register was 1-for-4 with a grand slam homerun and four RBIs in game one.
C.J. Lindsey was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Ben Blodgett was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. C.J. Moorer was 2-for-4 and Cody Turner was 1-for-3 with a homerun and two RBIs. Blake Long was 1-for-4 and Harry Haring was 2-for-5 with one RBI.
On the mound for JDCC, Josh Benton picked up the win. Benton went three innings and allowed one earned run (two total) on three hits, walked none and struck out none.
Game two: JDCC 17, BSCC 7
Hunter Brown took the win on the mound for JDCC. Brown went 4 1/3 inning allowing five earned runs on seven hits, walked three and struck out five.
Derek Young also pitched in the win. Young went 2 2/3 innings allowing two earned runs on five hits, walking one and striking out none.
Ben Negus was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and Lindsey was 2-for-5 with one RBI and a double.
Blodgett was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a double and Terry McClain was 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Moorer was 1-for-5 with one RBI and Hunter Norris was 2-for-5 with one RBI and a double. Cody Sanderson was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead JDCC in the win. Long was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a homerun. Harry Haring had one RBI in the win.
Game three: JDCC 12, BSCC 2
In the final of the series with Bishop State, JDCC picked up their second straight 10-run win and their fourth straight win as they improved to 19-19 overall and 11-10 in conference play with a 12-2 win.
JDCC used a seven-run first inning and added three runs in the second inning and one in the third to take an 11-0 after just three innings of play to get the win.
Shane Ikner picked up the win on the mound for the Warhawks. Ikner went five innings allowing, one earned run on six hits, walked two and struck out four.
Lindsey was 1-for-3 with a double in the win and McClain was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Moorer was 3-for-3 with a double and one RBI and Hunter Norris was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to lead JDCC at the plate.
Sanderson was 3-for-4 with a double and Sean Little was 1-for-1 with a double. Register was 1-for-1 with one RBI and Long was 1-for-3 with a double. Haring was 1-for-2 at the plate in the win for the Warhawks.
