Mrs. Dorothy Brewton Griffin, 87, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at her residence. She was a native of Castleberry and a resident of Evergreen. She was a member of Lyeffion Baptist Church in Evergreen, and had worked as a textile worker at Steven Roberts Drapery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Artis Griffin; a son, Larry Griffin and four brothers.
She is survived by a son, Murray (Patsy) Griffin of Cullman; three daughters, Becky (Lee) Dolihite of Castleberry, Eileen (Jerry) Salter of Monroeville, and Angie (Tommy) Tucker of Daphne; two brothers, Alvin Brewton of Douglasville, Texas; Kenneth “Jack” (Mary Lou) Brewton of Letahatchee; a sister, Frankie Watts of Evergreen; a sister-in-law, Mamie Kendrick of Evergreen; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 28, at 11 a.m. at Lyeffion Baptist Church. Burial followed at the Lyeffion Cemetery with Cope Funeral Home directing.
