I would like to publicly express my sincere gratitude to all who helped at W.S. Neal Elementary School’s Career-Vehicle Day held on April 24.
Many wonderful leaders from a wide variety of businesses and organizations helped to educate our children, our leaders of tomorrow, with hands-on exhibits and displays.  They used their talents, tools, and vehicles in many ways to hold our students’ attention and to stress how important it is to stay in school and to seek post-secondary education.
These community helpers and businesses included:  Escambia County Fire & Rescue Squad – David Blair, Keith Hawks, Justin Cole, David Cole, Tronie Richardson, Cory Chavers, Kevin Hoomes, and Luther McRae, Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company – Dennis Tyree and David Strawbridge, Brewton Career Tech Center automotive instructor, Eddie Morris, Alabama Forestry Commission – Madeline Hildreth, Woody Jackson, and Rusty Johnson,  Southern Pine Electric Cooperative – Tim Hodge and Harlan Ard,   farmer Gaylan Shelly and daughter, Valen Shelly (from our very own Farm Family of the Year for Alabama), and Tobacco Prevention Specialist for Escambia County Schools – Misty Kelly.
It would take a much longer letter and too much space to provide all the comments from the students and faculty about how much they learned and how much they enjoyed the seven station outdoor event which lasted from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
We  are very appreciative of the time and effort put forth by our guests listed above.  They are all natural teachers and wonderful motivators!!
