The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team increased their win streak to nine straight wins Tuesday at Lawson State.
The Warhawks improved to 24-19 overall with their ninth straight win.
Another bright spot in yesterday’s game was the play of Sean Little from Northview Blevins said.
JDCC took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but had the lead cut and taken away in the bottom of the third inning as Lawson scored four runs to take a 4-2 lead.
JDCC added a run in the top of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 4-3 but Lawson added a run of their own to make it a 5-3 lead.
JDCC then added a run in he fifth inning and three in the sixth inning to take a 7-5 lead only to have the game tied at 7-7 in the bottom of the seventh with two runs from Lawson.
With the game tied at 7-7, JDCC got one run in the top of the eighth inning and held on for the 8-7 win.
Benton took the win on the mound going three innings and allowing no earned runs (two total) on three hits.
David Dean, Kyle Wyatt, and King also pitched in the win for the Warhawks.
At the plate, Hunter Norris was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Terry McClain was 1-for-4 with a triple and Little was 1-for-5 with a triple and one RBI.
Harry Haring was 3-for-5 and Blake Long was 1-for-5 with one RBI.
Taylor Register was 1-for-3 with one RBI and Trent Smith was 1-for-5 in the win.
With a sweep of Enterprise-Ozark Community College in Enterprise last Friday and Saturday, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team improved their win streak to eight games.
JDCC swept the three-game conference series with EOCC to improve to 23-19 overall and to 14-10 in conference play.
Blevins said his squad is continuing to play well.
Cody Sanderson continues to swing a hot bat including a grand slam and solo home runs on the weekend.”
JDCC was set to be on the road to Birmingham on Tuesday vs. Lawson State and on Friday and Saturday will be at home with final conference series vs. Wallace Selma.
Game time is set for 1 p.m. on Friday and a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon.
Game one: JDCC 4, EOCC 3
In game one, JDCC scored one run in the top of the 10th inning and held Enterprise scoreless to claim a 4-3 win in extra innings on Friday.
The win improved JDCC to 21-19 overall and 12-10 with their sixth straight win.
Cody Turner was a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI and Blake Long was 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Reid Wynn was 2-for-5 with one RBI and Ryne Phillips was 2-for-5 with one RBI.
Cody Sanderson was 1-for-5 and C.J. Lindsey was 2-for-5 in the win for JDCC.
Game two: JDCC 6, EOCC 2
JDCC used a four-run fourth inning to pick up a 6-2 win in the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday.
Sanderson led JDCC at the plate with a 3-for-4 day and four RBIs with a grand slam.
Ben Negus was 1-for-3 and Lindsey was 2-for-4.
Ben Blodgett was 1-for-5 and C.J. Moorer was 1-for-5 with one RBI.
Wynn was 1-for-3 and Long was 1-for-3 with one RBI. Phillips was 1-for-5.
Hunter Brown took the win on the mound for JDCC. Brown went nine innings and allowed nine hits, no earned runs (two total), one walk, and six strikeouts.
Game three: JDCC 5, EOCC 3
Cody Sanderson homered again for the Warhawks in game three as JDCC picked up a 5-3 win and improve to 23-19 and 14-10 with their eighth straight win.
Sanderson was 1-for-4 with one RBI and Lindsey was 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Moorer was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Turner was 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Long and Phillips were both 2-for-4 and Harry Haring was 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Michael Clay took the win on the mound for JDCC as he went 5 1/3 innings.
Clay allowed two earned runs on five hits, walked three and struck out one.
Josh Benton went one inning and Favant went 2/3 of an inning.
Benton allowed one hit and Favant allowed one earned run and one walk.
