Mr. Joe Poindexter, 86, died recently. He was a native of Conecuh County and a member of Belleville Faulk A.M.E. Zion Church. He had been employed at Container Corporation for 29 years when he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeremiah and Melvina Lindsey Poindexter; four sisters; three brothers; and one daughter, Melvina; and one grandson, Jeffery.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Sallie Poindexter of Brewton; two sons, Leonard (Carol) of North Carolina, and Jerry (Edna) of Bayonne, N.J.; a daughter, Gloria Jean of Queens, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a nephew, Lonzy McCall; a brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 23, at Belleville Faulk A.M.E. Zion Church  at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Raymond Mallard Sr. officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
