It all began with a challenge from Helen Keller in 1925.
Lions Club members responded by dedicating their club to helping children who have sight problems.
The  Brewton Lions Club recently donated a sight screening machine to aid in an effort to ensure all children within the Brewton City School System are screened to pinpoint any sight problems.
This is not the first machine given to the school, but the old one needed to be replaced, Taylor said.
Paul Wade, a member of the Lions Club said some people are not aware this service is available for their children.
The Lions Club holds fundraisers throughout the year to help pay for equipment and programs like this program. Anyone who would like to make a contribution to help with vision screening materials, equipment or other club projects may contact any member of the local organization.
