Dog owners will have an opportunity to let their canine friends strut their stuff this weekend at the Wags and Wheels 2009 event sponsored by the Humane Society of Escambia County.
Renee Jones, director for the local organization, said the event was planned with owners and their dogs in mind.
Scheduled for Saturday at T.R. Miller High School, the car show and Mutt Strut event will get under way at 10 a.m. and will last until 2 p.m. Jones said.
Among the demonstrations for the day will be a group of dogs trained to perform in agility.
The demonstrations will begin at 10:30 a.m. Jones said with the Mutt Strut portion of the event set to begin at 1 p.m.
Jones said funds raised from the event will be used to help meet the group’s wish list of items.
Jones said the HSEC group often transports puppies and small-breed adult animals to urban areas where those animals are being sought.
Jones said Saturday’s event will also give pet owners an opportunity to purchase a voucher to have their current pets microchipped.
As a reminder, Jones said all dogs must be on a leash throughout the event.
