Mr. William Bartley Blackmon Jr., 63, died Friday, May 29, 2009, at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla. after a brief illness. He was a native of Brewton, a 1964 graduate of Flomaton High School and attended the University of West Florida on the GI Bill. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and received the Purple Heart for wounds received in action during the Vietnam War. He was a former employee of Monsanto before becoming involved with the mortgage industry. He was in the mortgage industry for 27 years, most recently as owner of West Florida Mortgage, Inc. He was preceded in death by his father, William B. Blackmon.
He is survived by his wife, Jacalyn Loux Blackmon; a daughter, Katie (Clay) Ingram; a son, Michael (Julie) Loux; his mother, Gladys Blackmon; his sisters, Judy Wilder and Jo (Rex) Butler; and his in-laws, Raymond and Barbara Loux.† †
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North of Cantonment. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
