We’ve all heard that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Nothing could be more true when it comes to preparing for hurricane season.
Hurricane season is open and predictions are that we could see as many as 14 named storms this season with up to four of them being major hurricanes that could cause significant damage.
That should be enough of a warning for the season to cause the most skeptical resident to become aware of what we could be facing.
The effects of Ivan, Erin, Opal, Katrina and other storms are still evident in our area and in neighboring communities, cities and states. Because of the devistation that has been seen along the gulf coast over the past few years, we encourage every resident to prepare for the season that lies ahead.
By making a plan for evacuation or for staying at home in the event of a hurricane reaching our area you can assure your family’s safety and comfort in the days before, during and after a major storm.
Planning and preparing ahead is much easier than fleeing or recovering in the event of a storm.
For those with children or elderly members of the family, planning and preparation is essential to the well-being of everyone in the family.
Planning ahead can ease the stress experienced when disaster strikes. Don’t be among those unprepared.
