Mr. John Russell “Russ” Capps, 28, died Sunday, June 14, 2009. He was a native of Pensacola, Fla. and a resident of Spartanburg. He attended Broome High School and Spartanburg Community College and was a computer technical writer with Du All Controls. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Russell Carden and W.P. Capps Sr.
He is survived by his parents, W.P. “Pete” Capps Jr. of Milton, Fla., and Juanita “Nita” Carden DeRocher of Spartanburg; a sister, Shea Capps of Rock Hill, S.C.; a brother, Wade Capps of Milton; his stepfather, David DuRocher of Spartanburg; his step-mother, Judy Capps of Milton; his grandmothers, Betty Capps of Brewton and Lanace Carnley of Century, Fla.; his stepgrandparents, Ruth and Wayne DuRocher of Free Soil, Mich., and Curtis and Alestine Lisenby of Wallace; a stepsister, Brandy Hampton of Michigan City, Ind.; a stepbrother, David DuRocher II of Portage Ind.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 18, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 19, at 2 p.m. at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel with the Rev. Joey Wampler officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park with J.F. Floyd Mortuary directing.
