If you listen carefully, you can hear the bulldozers working on the banks of Murder Creek at the site of the old Fort Crawford Park.
In an ongoing effort to bring the park back into use, a group of concerned citizens have committed themselves to getting it where people can once again enjoy the creek.
Ryan Pitts, of Pitts Dozer, was busy Tuesday morning taking down trees and leveling off a large area that will be used for parking.
Carroll said he hopes to have more help from East Brewton area students.
In addition to the donations, Carroll said that he is working on a couple of grants that will enable the committee to get some gazebos built, the old pavilion fixed up and some paving done.
Carroll said he hoped to have some sort of activities ready by the Fourth of July. He has asked the help of anyone who would like to donate time or money to the project. It can’t be done in a day, but if everyone pitches in, it can be done.
East Brewton Mayor Terry Clark said he is excited about the park.
If anyone would like to donate funds or their time, contact Carroll at 251-238-0366, or any advisory board member, Donald Jernigan, Raymond Wiggins or Beth Jenkins.
