Mr. Wayne Howard, 60, of Shoffner Street, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at a local hospital after an extended illness. He was a native and life long resident of East Brewton. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of East Brewton, chairperson of the finance committee for the church, a member of the church board of trustees and a member of Joyful Noise Gospel Group. He was a 1967 graduate of W.S. Neal High School, an East Brewton city councilman with 16 years of service, and retired owner/salesman of NuTex Manufacturing LLC.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Howard of East Brewton; three daughters, Dr. Candice (Richard) Howard Shaughnessy, and Abbie Howard, both of Troy, and Stefanie (Shannon) Howard Smith of Brewton; a brother, Winnon Howard of Molino, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Joshua Edward, Matthew William and Sara Brooke.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 15, at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of East Brewton with the Rev. George Weaver officiating. Burial followed at May Creek Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
