Mr. Dewayne Harris, 62, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, in a Pensacola, Fla., care center. He was a native of Muskogee, Okla., and had been a resident of the Brewton area for the past 22 years, coming from Pensacola. He was  a Vietnam War veteran having served with the U.S. Air Force. He worked as an operations manager for Redmon Pipe and Supply Company. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Earl Bess; and a grandson, Micah Ross Jordan.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Harris of Brewton; a son, Curtis Ray (Elisha) Jordan of Bradley; four daughters, Melissa Lee Harris of Ohio, Michelle Denise Harris of California, Wanda Jordan of Damascus, and Tara (Brian) Grantham of Brewton; two brothers, D.W. Harris of McDavid, Fla., and Billy Ray Bess of Pompano Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Valda Waters of Pensacola, Penny Allen of Columbus, Ga., and Diane Harris of Dallas, Texas; and four grandchildren, Paige Grantham, Sarah Jordan, Holly Jordan and Colten Jordan.
A graveside memorial service was held Thursday, June 25, at 2 p.m. at Elim Cemetery with the Rev. Don Cox officiating and Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
