After advancing through the 9- and 10-year-old tournament with a 3-0 record, the Brewton Little League All Stars hit a bump in the road Thursday night in Opp.
Needing just one win to advance to the state tournament with the district five championship, Brewton and Covington County met up again for the second time in the tournament and Covington County came away with a 9-6 win over Brewton.
The loss dropped Brewton to 3-1 in the tournament and the two teams were set to square off again back in Opp Friday night at 7 p.m. with the winner taking the championship.

On Tuesday, Brewton advanced to the championship game and in the winners bracket with a 9-7 win over Covington County.
Thursday night: Covington County 9, Brewton 6
After holding a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning Thursday night, Brewton gave up five runs in the bottom of the first inning and Covington County scored in every inning but one to take the three-run win over Brewton and force a do-or-die game last night.
Covington County held a 5-3 lead after the first inning and took a 6-3 lead after two innings after plating one run in the bottom of the second inning.
Brewton was able to cut the lead to 6-4 in the top of the third with one run of their own, but two runs in the bottom of the inning for Covington County gave them a four-run lead at 8-4.
Brewton once again cut the lead to two runs in the top of the fourth with two runs to make it an 8-6 deficit, but Covington County scored a run in the bottom of the fourth to take a three-run lead at 9-6.
Both teams were held scoreless in the fifth inning and after getting a one-out walk in the top of the sixth inning, a strikeout and a line drive catch by Covington County’s shortstop ended the game for Brewton as Covington County took the 9-6 win.
Hunter Brittain took the loss for Brewton as he went 2 2/3 innings and allowed eight runs on five hits, walked four and struck out five.
Lane Clark went the final 1 1/3 innings and allowed one run on one hit, walked none and struck out three.
Brewton committed five errors in the game and had seven wild pitches or passed balls.
Offensively for Brewton, Drew Williamson was 3-for-4 and Clark was 1-for-2.
O’Neil White was 1-for-3 with one RBI and Brittain was 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Jordan Williams was 1-for-3 at the plate in the loss and Garrett Salter had one RBI.
Brewton 9, Covington County 7
Brewton, despite having 11 errors, advanced in the winners bracket with a 9-7 win over Covington County Tuesday night.
With the game tied at 6-6 in the top of the sixth and one out, Lane Clark picked up a one-out single to start the Brewton rally.
After a fielder’s choice out, Brewton had two outs and Clark at second base.
Brittain was intentionally walked to put runners on first and third base and Jordan Williams singled to give Brewton a 7-6 lead.
Joshua Winton then singled to score Brittain and Williams to give Brewton a 9-6 lead.
Covington County scored one run in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the lead to 9-7, but Williams closed the game out and picked up the win in relief to put Brewton in the finals of the tournament.
Williams went the final three innings and allowed one run on three hits, struck out three and walked none.
Drew Williamson got the start on the mound and the no-decision.  Williamson went the first three innings and allowed five runs on two hits, walked two and struck out six.
Offensively for the Brewton All Stars, Williamson was 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and Clark was 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Brittain added an RBI and Williams was 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Winton was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Stokes Jennings was 1-for-2 with one RBI in the win for Brewton.
