After suffering a tough loss in the championship game of their district tournament to Monroe County by a score of 11-10, the Brewton 13-year-old Babe Ruth team got a surprise on Sunday.
Brewton will now join Monroe County at state after a team had to drop out.
Godwin said the team had a party on June 22 after the tournament, and he had one more time to be with them as a team.
Godwin said he just thanks God for having the opportunity to coach this group of 13-year-olds again.
Assistant coaches Doug Black and  Ricky Salter thought Godwin was joking when he told them about the change.
Godwin said he is looking forward to the opportunity.
