The Humane Society of Escambia County is encouraging residents who have lost a dog to come to the shelter to try to find their pets.
Jones said the shelters in Brewton and Atmore have taken in a number of dogs in recent days, more than the usual number.
She encouraged owners who have lost a dog to come to the shelters in both cities to look for their dogs and file a lost report.
