Mrs. Roberta L. Floyd, 75, died Thursday, June 25, 2009. She was a native of Conecuh County and a resident of Escambia County since 1936. She was a member of Second Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. She had been an employee for Judy Bond for more than 40 years before retiring. She played the piano for her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernice Floyd; a son, Wayne Floyd; her parents, Hugh and Mattie Samuel; two sisters, Marjorie Jackson and Sally Mae King; four brothers, Hugh Jr., Lewis, Quittman and James “Bill” Samuel.
She is survived by a son, Charles (Georgia) Floyd of Ellenwood, Ga.; five daughters, Faye (Sammie) Ball of Oxnard, Calif., Janice (Richard) Stephens, Carolyn (Craig) Brazzell, Melissa Floyd and Lynn Likely, all of Brewton; 13 grandchlldren, Jerome Stewart, JoAnna (Ian) Donnelly, Ronesha Ball, Derek Galloway, Sabrina Ball, Stephanie Stephens, Quentin Galloway, LaToya “Booley” Floyd, April Floyd, Jolesia Likely, Shanell Floyd, Gary Likely and Chandra Floyd; an adoptive grandson, LaQuan (Shannon) Chambers; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Bernice Snowden of Stockton, Calif., Arithia Marshall of Boynton Beach, Fla., Lillie (Hosea) Edwards of Mobile, Gladys (Willie D.) Williams of Oxnard, Calif., Sue (Willie) Bines of Tucson, Ariz., Aaron (Annie) Samuel of Los Angeles, Calif., Edward (Ethel) Samuel of Tucson and Arnold (Liz) Samuel of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at Second Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Cartez Hall officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
