Woman struck in storm|Yoder serious after lightning strike

An Escambia County woman remained hospitalized Tuesday after an extraordinary phenomena occurred Monday while she was performing an ordinary task.
A bolt of lighting struck Atmore resident Dawn Yoder, wife of Dr. Jon Yoder, during a Monday morning storms, while she was taking out her family’s garbage.
Yoder was transferred by ambulance from Atmore Community Hospital to Springhill Hospital in Mobile. LifeFlight was not able to fly Yoder because of the weather conditions.
In an interview Monday afternoon, Dr. Yoder said his wife was in a coma due to the strike.
Yoder also said that his wife was not far from the house when the strike apparently occurred.
Yoder’s son, Robert, found her unconscious.
Robert Yoder said Tuesday that his mother’s condition had not changed much.
