Mr. Aubrey Smith Durden died March 22, 2009. He was formerly of Brewton. He was a deacon emeritus with Gracewood Baptist Church. He was retired from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class, with 20 years of service and served during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Angel Albertson Durden; his children, Connie (Leonard) Bernard of Leesburg, Va., Gwen (Bob) Lane of Appling, Ga., James O. (Carol) Durden of Beech Island, S.C., Debbie (Mark) Baxley of Charleston, S.C., Patricia Durden and Pamela Freeman, both of North Augusta, South Carolina; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance was held March 24, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home with military honors.
