In their second elimination game of the 11- and 12-year-old Little League tournament in East Brewton, the Brewton All Stars survived to play again.
Down 2-1 with one out in the final inning of play Tuesday, Brewton benefited from three Andalusia errors to tie the game at 2-2 and force extra innings.
After neither team scored in the first inning of extra play, Brewton held Andalusia in the top of the eighth inning to no runs.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, a leadoff walk to Todd Mayo and a sacrifice bunt gave Brewton a runner at second base with one out.
A fielder’s choice by Hunter Harp pushed Mayo to third base. From there, Mayo scored the game winning run on a passed ball to give Brewton a 3-2 win in eight innings and live to play another day.
Kellyn Winn picked up the win in relief of Kyle Davis who relieved starting pitcher Harp in the top of the sixth inning.
Winn went 1 1/3 innings and allowed one hit, one walk and struck out one.
Harp went the first five innings and allowed two runs on four hits, walked three, hit one and struck out one.
Davis went 1 2/3 innings and struck out four.
Brewton was held to only five hits in the game.
Chris Jones was 2-for-4 and Davis was 1-for-3 with a homerun and an RBI. The homerun was Davis’ third of the tournament and the teams fifth in four games.
James Peach was 1-for-4 and Mayo was 1-for-3. Keaton Parker had the game-winning RBI on the passed ball that Mayo scored on.
Andalusia led 2-0 after scoring runs in the first and second innings, but Davis cut the lead to 2-1 with a homerun in the third inning.
Both Brewton and Andalusia had five hits in the game and combined to leave 10 runners on base with Brewton leaving 10 runners on.
With the win, Brewton advanced to play East Brewton Wednesday night in a rematch game from Sunday night in which East Brewton won 12-2.
East Brewton lost to Opp 4-1 Tuesday night.
