Brewton Advanced Babe Ruth takes third place

Brewton’s Advanced Babe Ruth team finished with a 2-2 record in their district tournament.
Brewton opened the tournament with a 5-1 win over Tallassee on Wednesday and defeated Valley 7-4 on Thursday night in Mobile.
Brewton lost to Mobile’s Raw Dogs 11-3 Friday in Mobile.
Brewton suffered their second straight loss and ended the tournament with a third place finish after losing to Raw Dogs 16s 10-6 Friday night.
Brewton 5, Tallassee 1
William Shell pitched a one-run, one hitter for Brewton in game one as Brewton picked up a 5-1 win over Tallassee.
Shell went six innings and struck out five, walked two, and hit two in the win.
Brewton scored two runs in the third inning to grab an early 2-0 lead and then added a run in the third inning and fourth inning to grab a 4-0 lead.
Tallassee cut the lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth with their lone run of the game, but Brewton added one run in the sixth to get the 5-1 win.
Jacob Cannon was 2-for-3 with a homerun and one RBI and James Hamilton was 1-for-2 for Brewton.
Patrick McPherson was 1-for-4 and Keegan Lambeth was 1-for-4 with a double.
Jeff Price was 1-for-3 and Stephen Warren was 1-for-2.
Shell was 1-for-2 in the win and Marshall Rolin was 1-for-1. Jon Dean was 2-for-2 with a double in the win for Brewton.
Brewton 7, Valley 4
On Thursday, Brewton picked up their second win of the tournament with a 7-4 win.
Jeff Price picked up the win on the mound as he went the complete game seven innings and allowed four runs on eight hits, walked one and struck out 13.
Brewton trailed 1-0 after the first inning, but tied the game at 1-1 with a run in the top of the second inning.
Brewton took a 3-1 lead in the top of the third inning with two runs, but Valley tied the game with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.
In the fifth inning, Brewton grabbed a 4-3 lead with a run and took a 7-3 lead with three runs in the sixth inning.
Tallassee cut the lead to 7-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning, but that was as close as they could get as Brewton took the three-run win.
Offensively for Brewton, McPherson was 2-for-3 and Lambeth was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Price was 1-for-4 and Corey Williams was 1-for-4. Stephen Warren and Hamilton had an RBI each and Tyler Nall was 1-for-2 with a double.
Mobile Raw Dogs 11, Brewton 3
Brewton was held to only five hits while giving up 14 including three doubles and three homeruns as they fell to the Raw Dogs of Mobile 11-3.
Brewton’s three runs all came in the third inning to cut Mobile’s lead to 4-3, but the Raw Dogs added three runs in the fourth inning and four more in the seventh inning to win by eight.
Tyler Cross took the loss on the mound for Brewton as he went three innings and allowed four runs on six hits, walked three and hit one.
Chris Edwards and Stephen Warren also pitched in the loss.
Offensively, James Hamilton was 1-for-3 along with Keegan Lambeth, Jacob Cannon and Corey Williams.
Cross was 1-for-1 and Jeff Price added one RBI.
Mobile Raw Dogs 16s 10, Brewton 6
A 10-run second inning for Mobile lead to a 10-6 win over Brewton to end Brewton’s run in the tournament and give them a third place finish.
Mobile held a 10-0 lead after the second inning before Brewton scored two runs in the fifth inning and four in the seventh inning to cut the lead to 10-6.
With the tying run at the plate for Brewton after batting around in the seventh inning, Mobile ended the threat to earn the four-run win.
Edwards took the loss for Brewton as he allowed 10 runs (eight earned) on five hits, walked one and struck out two and hit three.
Price and Cross also pitched in the loss for Brewton.
James Hamilton was 2-for-4 for Brewton and Lambeth was 1-for-2.
Jon Dean was 1-for-3 and Patrick McPherson was 2-for-4.
Cannon was 1-for-4 with one RBI and Williams was 2-for-3 with one RBI. Williams had a double along with Hamilton and McPherson.
Tyler Nall had two RBIs and Edwards had one RBI in the loss for the Advance Babe Ruth Brewton All Stars against Mobile’s Raw Dogs.
