Mayor Ted Jennings had some good grades to brag about on Tuesday.
As part of a recent refinancing of one of the city’s bond issues, Standard & Poor’s gave Brewton an A bond rating — an unusually high mark for a small town.
The bond refinancing ensures that the city will have money on hand for several of its upcoming projects, Jennings said. Brewton has been working toward a number of goals, including park renovations and other projects, many of which have grant money attached to them.
The current rating is good until the city seeks another bond issue, Jennings said.
The last bond rating the city received — when it sought a bond issue for the new middle school late last year — was a B+.
