Brewton City Councilman Cary Barton remained in critical condition Tuesday following a weekend four-wheeler accident, but his brother and fellow Councilman Fred Barton said he is expected to recover.
Fred Barton said the accident occurred at a four-wheeler trail near Uriah, where his brother has been riding before. Apparently a rear tire on his four-wheeler blew, causing the accident.
Cary Barton was airlifted to USA Medical Center in Mobile, where he was in intensive care on Tuesday.
Fred Barton said doctors were hoping to bring his brother out of a medically-induced coma today.
Cary Barton also serves as a part-time sheriff’s deputy for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department.
